The Boston Tea Party
Patriots were always able to drink Dutch tea without paying taxes, but in 1773 the British government created a new law called the Tea Act. The reason for the Tea Act was because of the American boycott, which made them broke. Even though the British tea was cheaper than the Dutch tea, the colonists were not fooled by the Tea Act, they just saw it as another way to tax them without their consensus. Protesters stopped ships from unloading their cargo. A group called The Sons of Liberty dressed as mo-hawked Indians and dumped the 90,000 pounds of tea overboard.
