Lexington and Concord
King George made many mistakes and One of those mistakes was refusing to answer the colonists complaints and their message. George stated that "Blows must decide whether they are to be subject to this country or independent." A man by the name of General Gage got ready to deliver those blows. in 1755 spy told Kate the colonists were holding a large supply of gunpowder in Lexington Concorde gauge at once decided to strike. The general ordered 700 troops to seize the weapons but to keep them from moving the weapons they had to keep the attack a secret so they went dead night. The colonist had their own spies the patriots were waiting watching every move of the attack, soon Paul Revere and William Dawes were galloping on horseback warning the colonists that the British were coming. At Lexington a village close to Concorde said a small group of Minutemen "stand your ground don't fire unless fired upon, but if they mean to have a war then let it begin here."
British trip just finally appeared in the morning, after shot was fired, the soldiers rushed in shooting wildly. When the dust settles be calling this lady dying and 10 with bad wounds limping to safety. The troops let out three cheers in victory and marched onto Concorde. By breakfast time the British were in Concorde looking for gunpowder and weapons, But they were moved and hidden. On the edge of town militiamen Watch as the soldiers set wooden tools, carriages, and tents on fire. "Are you gonna let them burn the town down" shouted one man "no!" Replied captain Isaac Davis. Then he led them down the hill. Sadly Davis fell dead at the troops open fire, a bullet through his heart.
The British thought that after that the militiamen would flee, but to their surprise they held their ground and the redcoats ended up being the ones fleeing in the end. Colonist lined up and blocked the cheeps pass on the way back, shooting at every red coat they stop. By the end 74 British soldiers were dead, and another 200 or missing. The colonist counted their own losses at 49 dead at 41 wounded. They asked the British officer about that day. He said "whoever looks upon them as a irregular mob will find himself must much mistaken.". The British his main problem was not believing that the colonist would fight for their rights and their country, this ultimately lead to them being defeated.
